For your Estate planning meeting, please plan to meet with me independently as an individual or as a married couple, without your children or other family members present.

I regularly receive requests from potential clients and/or their children to sit in on our meetings and discussions. This creates an ethical dilemma and compromises the validity of the process. It is critical that a client be able to address their estate planning needs direclty with me without any appearance of undue influence and that I can ensure they have full capacity to understand our discussion and the decisions that they make. Having third parties in the room can result in the documents being invalidated in the future.
